Food for Thought Regarding Garrett Wolfe

Northern Illnois RB Garrett Wolfe ran for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns Sunday night in a 28-25 win over Miami (OH). Like most of America, I haven't seen Wolfe play in a single game. His highlights are impressive as hell, but it's his numbers that are truly astounding.

Through six games this season Garrett has carried the ball 156 times for 1343 yards and 13 touchdowns. That's over 220 yards and 2 scores per contest. And while the NIU Huskies haven't played a daunting schedule, they did suit up at Ohio State to open the season. All Garrett did against the best team in the nation was rush 171 yards and score a receiving TD. He'll have another huge test at the end of this month when NIU visits Iowa.

On my Heisman Hopefuls list I have Garrett slotted at #4. If anything, his ranking may go up as the year progresses, two (or more) team losses be damned.
