Bleak House

First-round draft picks by the Seattle Mariners this decade:

2000: NONE
2001: Michael Garciaparra (compensation pick)
2002: John Mayberry (didn't sign)
2003: Adam Jones (compensation pick... and we all know how this one turned out)
2004: NONE
2005: Jeff Clement
2006: Brandon Morrow
2007: Phillippe Aumont, Matt Mangini
2008: Joshua Fields

Garciaparra has been a career minor leaguer. Mayberry didn't sign with the M's and played at Stanford. He's currently in the Rangers system. I can't even talk rationally about the Adam Jones debacle so let's move on. Clement is heading back down to AAA and may converted to 1B and/or traded. Mangini looks to never make it to the show.

So that leaves Morrow, Aumont and Fields. Now that Seattle is determined to make all three of them relievers I think it's safe to say it's been an awful decade of high draft picks.
